1G refers to the first generation of wireless cellular technology (mobile telecommunications). These are the analog telecommunications standards that were introduced in the 1980s and continued until being replaced by 2G digital telecommunications.

The 1980s brought the first generation—or 1G—of networks with voice-only, analog service. The top speed of data transmission on a 1G network reached around 2.4kbps.


 2G Network 

2G refers to the second-generation cellular network.2G cellular networks were commercially launched on the GSM standard in Finland by Radiolinja (now part of Elisa Oyj) in 1991.

How fast is 2G network?

With General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), 2G offers a theoretical maximum transfer speed of 40 kbps. With EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution), there is a theoretical maximum transfer speed of 384 kbps.


 3G Network 

3G  refers to 3rd Generation telecommunication network. It support services that provide an information transfer rate of at least 144 kbps. Later 3G releases, often denoted 3.5G and 3.75G, also provide mobile broadband access of several mbps to smartphones and mobile modems in laptop computers.

3G networks have speeds of up to 3.1 megabits per second (Mbps) or more, which is similar to cable modem speeds.


 4G Network 

4G is the fourth generation of broadband cellular network technology.it offering speeds that are about 10 times faster than they are on current third-generation, or 3G, networks.

How fast is 4G network?

4G networks are very fast compared to 3G. Standard 4G offers download speeds of around 14mbps.
